2009 Upcoming Events (Article)

Race Schedule:    Contact Patty Maisch

·         Winter Series Races – (3 Races) Race # 1- 1/24, #2 - 2/7, #3 - 3/14.  This is a points race series.  Points earned during this Series will be included toward overall season winner.  No trophy wil be awarded for this series.

·         Spring Series Races – (4 Races) Race # 1- 4/25, #2 - 5/16, #3 - 5/30, #4 - 6/13. Alternate - 7/25.  This is a trophy series.  Note a pre-race Seminar will be held on 4/4, see Events & Classes.

·         Franks Tract Race – 8/29 (race pattern to be determined) This is the ACYC invitation race event. This event will be promoted with mailings and postings to other clubs and sailors.  This is a trophy event.

·         D.C.R. Memorial Race- (Long distance race) 9-19. The race course TBD.  This is a trophy event.

Cruise Schedule:    Contact Renae Klee

·         Antioch Overnight Cruise – 4/18-19. Cruise to Antioch, dinner at the marina, overnight, return ACYC.

·         Memorial Day Cruise – 5/23-24-25. Location to be determined.

·         Benicia Marina – Race Home – 6/27-28.  Cruise to Benicia, overnight at the Marina, return race home.

·         Potato Slough-Fireworks – 7/4-5.  Cruise to Potato Slough, raft-up, watch the fireworks, overnight.  

·         Decker Island Cruise – 8/15-16.  Cruise to Decker Island for raft-up overnight.

·         Prospect Slough 3 Day Cruise – 9/5-6-7 – Long distance cruise to Prospect Slough.

·         Fleet Week and Monterey Bay Cruise – October Cruise to San Francisco Bay for Fleet Week. Then on to Monterey Bay.  Arrangements will be made for berthing as needed in SF Bay, Half Moon Bay, and Monterey Bay. Note required attendance at the September 26 Class Event pre-cruise briefing.

Board Meetings – Contact Bert Chun. Board Meetings will “float” to communities and will occur on the first Tuesday’s of each month. All members are encouraged to attend. This is your club, come to a meeting!

·         January Meeting – 1/6 - will take place in West Sacramento-6:30 pm, location- Lake Washington Sailing Club

·         February Meeting – 2/3 - will take place in Elk Grove-7:00 pm, location TBD

·         March Meeting – 3/3 - will take place in Rio Vista-7:00 pm, location TBD

·         Additional Meetings at the discretion of the 2009 Club Officers

General Meetings – All members are invited to attend all Board Meetings (see above).

·         Delta Loop Fest – 5/2 – Membership Meeting and open house at ACYC. Club Rio and ACYC will both be holding an open house during Loop Fest Weekend.  Raffles, prizes, food, Nautical Flea Mart, Open Houses.  This is a major event at ACYC.

·         General Meeting – 7/25 – General Meeting and BBQ at the Club House.  Details to follow.

·         Christmas Party – 12/12 – The Annual Christmas Party at ACYC.  Details to follow.

Events and Classes –

·         Navigation Class – 1/17 – at the Club House; Contact Alan Klee

·         Radar Class – 2/21 - at the Club House; details to follow; Contact Jim Heffelfinger

·         Sail Trim Class – 3/21 at the Club House; details to follow; Contact Shawn Passeri, Bert Chun

·         ACYC Race Seminar – 4/4 – Learn races before the season starts. Patty Maisch, Doug McDougall
